Exploring the Fascinating World of Biofabrication: SFB/TRR 225 Scientists Presents Research and Study Programs

By 7. June 2023News

As part of SFB/TRR 225, two professors from the University of Würzburg recently had the opportunity to present our research and the study programs in Biomedical Chemistry and Biofabrication and provide high school students at Gymnasium Veitshöchheim with an insight into the fascinating world of biofabrication.

Professor Lutz Nuhn (Chair of Macromolecular Chemistry) showcased his work in nanomedicine and explained how nanoparticles can be used to deliver drugs directly to diseased cells. It was amazing to see the students’ interest in this topic and their recognition of the medical applications.

Junior Professor Tomasz Jüngst (Department for Functional Materials in Medicine and Dentistry) provided information about the Biofabrication program, which involves the customized production of polymer-based objects using 3D printers. It was impressive to witness how the students grasped the significance of this innovative approach and its potential for tissue and organ engineering in the future.

We are grateful for the opportunity to present our work and the study programs of SFB/TRR 225 to the public, especially to the students. It was inspiring to see their enthusiasm for biofabrication and their potential interest in pursuing a career in research.

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all the participants, and we hope that our presentation has further nurtured their interest in the field of biofabrication.
