Matthias Ryma was awarded with three prizes including the “Kulturpreis Bayern” for his outstanding scientific dissertation

Matthias Ryma (UKW) receives the prize for an outstanding scientific dissertation (DGBM) and the “Kulturpreis Bayern” (bayernwerk AG)

We are happy to announce that Dr. Matthias Ryma, currently PostDoc at the Department for Functional Materials in Medicine and Dentistry (FMZ), has won the prize for an outstanding scientific dissertation of the German Society for Biomaterials (DGBM). Additionally, his PhD Thesis was awarded with the prestigeous “Kulturpreis Bayern”, a prize for outstanding achievements in art and science. The topic of the of Matthias Rymas dissertation was the exploitation of thermoresponsive polymers for biofabrication applications under the supervision of Prof. Jürgen Groll. Here he developed technologies for vascularization (together with project partners from the project B02 from the Collaborative Research Centre SFB/TRR 225 and collagen-mimetic scaffolds for efficient topography-mediated cell differentiation. The DGBM certificate was awarded during the Annual Meeting of the German Society for Biomaterials held in Essen on 14-17 September 2022. The “Kulturpreis Bayern” will be awarded on 10 November 2022 in Munich, Germany.
