TERMIS-AP 2026 in Christchurch – scientific exchange, teamwork and sustainability!

By 30. October 2026News

Four members of our team joined the conference in Christchurch, New Zealand: PD Dr. Natascha Schäfer, Jürgen Groll, Thomas Scheibel and Nicoletta Murenu.

Beyond the scientific exchange, one thing that particularly impressed Natascha was the conference’s approach to sustainability: there were hardly any paper cups! Sometimes, it’s the small details that make a difference.

TERMIS-AP 2026 is also committed to sustainability beyond the conference venue. The organisers are working with local initiatives, including the Ōtautahi Urban Forest Plan and Trees for Canterbury, to help offset the conference’s carbon footprint and support local biodiversity through native tree planting.

One special initiative is the Kowhai tree, which will be planted in Christchurch as a lasting legacy of TERMIS-AP 2026. Conference participants can leave a personal message that will be planted alongside the tree.

And of course, science remains at the heart of the conference! The second photo features theresearch poster presented by Nicoletta Murenu.

A great combination of scientific exchange, international collaboration and sustainability!
