From September 23 to 26, 2026, the CRC/TRR225 was represented at DGBM 2026 in Aachen. With numerous scientific contributions from different projects, several poster presentations, three chair sessions, and its own exhibition booth, our consortium was once again strongly represented at the annual meeting of the German Society for Biomaterials.
DGBM 2026 provided an excellent platform for scientific exchange and networking in the fields of biomaterials, biofabrication, and tissue engineering. Our members took the opportunity to present their latest research findings, exchange ideas with researchers from related fields, strengthen existing collaborations, and establish new contacts and perspectives for future joint research.
We are particularly pleased that Jahid Alakbarli, currently a PhD candidate at the Institute of Biomaterials at FAU, received the 2026 Best Master’s Thesis Award of the German Society for Biomaterials (DGBM). He conducted his master’s thesis entitled “Bioprinting of Modified 3D Alginate-Based Glioblastoma Constructs via Combined Extrusion and Drop-on-Demand Approaches” on the printing of alginate-based bioinks for biofabrication as part of project C05 of the CRC/TRR225, under the supervision of Dr. Rainer Detsch and Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini.
The award certificate was presented to him during the DGBM Annual Meeting, held from September 23 to 26, 2026, in Aachen.
