Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini, Head of the Institute of Biomaterials (WW7) at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, has been selected to receive the Larry L. Hench Lifetime Achievement Award from the Bioceramics Division of the American Ceramic Society (ACerS) in 2025.
This prestigious award is presented annually to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding lifetime dedication, vision, and achievements in advancing the field of bioceramics, with a particular emphasis on innovation and scientific impact.
The award is named after Professor Larry L. Hench, a pioneer in ceramic and glass materials, best known for his invention of Bioglass — the first synthetic biomaterial shown to form a direct bond with bone.
We are proud that our TRR225 Erlangen spokesman, Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini, has been honored with this prominent award, recognizing his exceptional contributions and leadership in the field of biomaterials.
