Scientists of the SFB/TRR 225 of FAU Erlangen of the Institutes of Materials Science (Biomaterials) (Chair holder: Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini) again participated with stands at the Long Night of the Science in Erlangen.

“Jelly, gummy bears and joints: a journey through the world of biomedical materials
Biomaterials are materials that are used in medicine for therapeutic purposes, can replace and regenerate deficient body functions and are in direct contact with the body. Implants of different strengths can be produced with the help of 3D printing. Soft materials such as gelatine or Nivea cream can be used as printing ink to print noses and ears. To find out whether a material has the right properties to be used in the brain (soft tissue) or in the bone (hard tissue), there are different measuring methods, which you can learn about with us.”
