SFB/TRR 225 Seminar Series 2023 continues to bring leading experts in the field of biofabrication and tissue engineering to share their latest research and insights. On March 21st, the series welcomed Jelena Rnjak-Kovacina, a Scientia Associate Professor and ARC Future Fellow at UNSW Sydney’s Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering. Prof. Rnjak-Kovacina gave a talk on “Next generation biomimetic materials for cardiovascular applications.”
During her talk, Prof. Rnjak-Kovacina discussed her team’s research on developing biomimetic materials that can be used for cardiovascular applications. She shared her insights on how the use of advanced materials can enable the creation of more realistic models of human tissues, leading to better testing and development of therapies for cardiovascular diseases.
Prof. Rnjak-Kovacina is a renowned expert in biomaterials and tissue engineering. She received her PhD from the University of Sydney and has conducted extensive research in the field of biomaterials at prestigious institutions such as MIT and Harvard. Her current research focuses on developing novel biomaterials for cardiovascular tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.
The SFB/TRR 225 Seminar Series is a joint effort between the University of Würzburg and the University of Bayreuth and Erlangen, aimed at promoting interdisciplinary research in the field of biofabrication and tissue engineering. The series welcomes guests both in-person and online, providing a platform for leading researchers to share their knowledge and latest findings.
